Description

For use within the Cisco Networking Academy Program, Fundamentals of Web Design course, sponsored by Adobe® Systems, Inc. The Fundamentals of Web Design course allows Networking Academies the opportunity to provide a curriculum that includes industry-standard Web design practices and tools. This hands-on Web design course, which is taught using Adobe Photoshop®, Adobe Illustrator®, Adobe GoLive®, Adobe LiveMotion®, and Adobe Premiere® focuses on design elements involving layouts, navigation, and interactivity. Upon successful completion of the course the students will be able to understand the basic Web page design principles, file formats for creating Web pages, accessibility, usability, and site management skills. Additionally, the students will have the ability to create basic HTML code, vector, and bitmap graphics, SWF and GIF animations, animations with DHTML, and images for Web pages; and the ability to create Web pages with interactive elements, Cascading Style Sheets, and a Web site.

Cisco Networking Academy Program: Fundamentals of Web Design Companion Guide is the companion textbook for a one-semester Adobe Systems sponsored curriculum on Web design principles. The book and course provide an introduction to the skills needed to design world-class Web sites, taking students through all the steps involved in Web site architecture, work flow and production processes.

Created by the co-authors of the Web-based course, this book is published to complement the Web-based course and meet the need of the instructors for companion learning tools and resources to provide a richer learning experience to students.

The Cisco Networking Academy Program: Fundamentals of Web Design Companion Guide carefully integrates key concepts from the online course with additional material found only in the Companion Guide, resulting in a textbook that aligns to the Web-based course and one that provides additional classroom materials and learning. Unique topics include XHTML, Adobe Studio, collaboration tools, outsourcing, and Web site assembly.

Strong pedagogy, exploratory reading assignments, and an accompanying CD-ROM combine to produce an exceptional learning environment that speaks to multiple learning preferences. The Cisco Networking Academy Program: Fundamentals of Web Design Companion Guide also uses experimental lab exercises to acquaint students with different software tools. This gives students the opportunity to work with powerful industry applications and determine their own “best fit”.
